My passion for gardening began on childhood trips to Kew Gardens with my mother and sister, while my father watched London Welsh rugby matches next door at Old Deer Park.
That early inspiration shaped my entire career. I went on to study Landscape Architecture at the Edinburgh College of Art, but after 3 years of training realised I belonged in the garden rather than behind a desk.
To ground my design theory in hands-on expertise, I earned an HND in Horticulture with Plantsmanship at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, followed by completing the Craftsman Gardener Award placement with the National Trust for Scotland.
Over a rewarding 16-year career with the National Trust, I gardened in several historic landscapes, including Montacute House, Barrington Court, and Tintinhull—a garden deeply influenced by legendary designer Penelope Hobhouse. For six of those years, I led the garden team and volunteers at Dyrham Park in South Gloucestershire, successfully reinstating intricate garden features from 17th-century archive drawings.
More recently, I spent three years helping lead the Ornamental team at the world-renowned estate, The Newt in Somerset, where I personally curated the Cascade bog garden, Grass garden, and Meadow.
Over the last 9 years I have particularly developed my knowledge of meadow management, pond management and complex bedding and border designs.
Below is a curated selection of images from the historic estates and landscapes I have had the privilege to shape over my career.
