After completing a BA in Landscape Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, and an HND in Horticulture with Plantsmanship (Dist.) from Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, I gained 20 years experience working as a hands on gardener.
During this time I curated and designed plant collections at sites that are visited by hundreds of thousands of people a year, such as the National Trust and The Newt in Somerset.
At Living Artworks Gardens I have chosen to specialise in the artistic vision, assessment and conceptual layout of your outdoor spaces.
By focusing purely on consultation and design, I provide a creative vision to transform your garden/landscape while leaving the physical construction and routine maintenance to you, your staff or your preferred contractors.
“I have always enjoyed being creative and can think of no better way to express this than through plants. Rather than a static depiction, you get to create an ever-changing piece of art, full of colour and texture and scent and sound, that people can immerse themselves in. Gardens offer people space to be free. They can be a meeting place, or a place for contemplating in solitude. They are full of laughter, but also mindfulness. Gardens are also a recreation of woodland edge – one of the richest habitats we have, one of my favourite facts is that here in the UK, all the gardens combined, provide a space for wildlife larger than the sum of our National Nature Reserves” – Deanne Lewis .
